HUNTINGTON BEACH...The City of Huntington Beach has received inquires related to deceased pelicans along our shoreline. Our Marine Safety Division recently met with a representative from the Wetlands & Wildlife Care Center to discuss and investigate these incidents further. The deceased pelicans are younger birds that have left the Channel Islands and often face challenges during transit or after making land, leading to exhaustion, lack of food sources, or even death.

We're closely monitoring the situation and collaborating with local wildlife experts to ensure the best care and safety of these birds. Please do not touch or pick up if you see injured or deceased birds along the coastline. Instead, contact Wetlands & Wildlife Conservancy at (714) 374-5587. Photo:CityofHB
