Major Crimes Unit were recently recognized as “Unit of the Year”

HUNTINGTON BEACH...On January 26th, 2025, Forensic Systems Specialist Michelle Fiore of the HBPD Major Crimes Unit (MCU) received the “Greatest Save” award from the KinderVision Foundation. The award was presented by MLB Hall of Fame member Rollie Fingers. The KinderVision Foundation was created to “prevent child and teen sexual exploitation, abduction and human trafficking.” Awarded annually, the “Greatest Save” award recognizes individuals in the law enforcement profession that have gone above and beyond to help protect innocent children.

Forensic Systems Specialist Michelle Fiore has been with the Huntington Beach Police Department for 22 years and in the High Tech Crime Lab for 14.

In 2025, FSS Fiore worked over 129 cases. Many of those cases involved child molestation, sexual assault and homicides. Last year, as well as throughout her career, FSS Fiore has helped put numerous child molestation and sexual assault offenders in state and federal prison.

A recent case led to the conviction of a child molester, that had a 4 year old victim, after a lengthy jury trial. Next month, he will be sentenced and he is looking at over 75 years in state prison.

FSS Fiore has been recognized as the #2 ranked investigator in the large Los Angeles Electronic Crimes Task Force. She has also received the following awards:
Street Cops “Civilian Employee of the Year” by the HBPD POA.

“Excellence in Cyber Crime Investigations” by the Peace Officers Association of Los Angeles County.

“Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition.”

FSS Fiore and the Major Crimes Unit were recently recognized by the Huntington Beach Police Department as “Unit of the Year.” Her work truly played a significant role in the team award. She has also been the HBPD “Employee of the Month” 7 times.
FSS Fiore’s casework, along with her mentorship and training of detectives and officers will unquestionably lead to additional protection of victims and convictions of perpetrators. Her unwavering pursuit of justice for the most vulnerable victims is a great example to all.
