HUNTINGTON BEACH...In 2025 the HBPD has brought the joy of the holiday season to life as they celebrated the 11th Annual Shop with a Cop event! This is a day they look forward to every year, and this year’s celebration was filled with smiles, excitement, and holiday cheer.

HBPD officers were honored to host about 50 children for a warm breakfast at Woody’s Diner before heading to Target for a festive shopping experience. The morning also included a special visit with Santa and a fun gift-wrapping session at Market Broiler to finish off the day.

A heartfelt thank you to the Nobles Family Foundation, the Huntington Beach Police and Community Foundation, the HBPD 42 Foundation, Huntington Beach Police Officers Association, and Nuvision Credit Union for their generosity and partnership. They also extend their gratitude to Jersey Mike’s Subs and Chick-fil-A for providing meal gift cards to brighten each child’s holiday stocking.

The Huntington Beach Police Officers has brightened the lives of youngsters during Christmas time with their Shop with a Cop program since 2014.

In 2015 Christmas came early to some 25 police officers and 25 students in the Huntington Beach City, Ocean View and Westminster School Districts. These 2015 students were treated to a shopping trip at the Target store on Adams Avenue in Huntington Beach.

In 2015 the kids along with a parent or guardian watched as their child picked out gifts for themselves and members of their family for the coming holidays. The officers seemed to have as much fun watching and helping the kids find gifts. Kids also had a chance to talk to a real police officer and ask questions.

Ten years have passed as many other officers have helped youngsters have a heartful Christmas with their Shop with a Cop program. Many of those early youngsters came from low-income families that otherwise would not have been able to make their Christmas so memorable.

Eleven years later our police are still enjoying helping youngsters have a wonderful holiday and events like these remind us what community is all about.
