HUNTINGTON BEACH...On Friday, July 5, 2024, at approximately 10 p.m., the Huntington Beach Police Department (HBPD) responded to a traffic collision on Warner Avenue and Beach Boulevard involving a silver 2022 Lexus IS 500, a blue 2011 Ford Fusion, and a pedestrian.

Upon arrival, officers located the pedestrian, Eric Steffen Boltona, a 55-year-old male from Huntington Beach, in the roadway. He was transported to a local hospital but was later pronounced deceased. Impairment is not known at this time.

Based on the preliminary investigation, the Lexus was traveling eastbound on Warner Avenue in the #3 lane just west of Beach Boulevard when it struck the pedestrian outside the crosswalk and in the roadway. The Ford was also eastbound on Warner Avenue in the #2 lane and hit the pedestrian shortly after.

The Lexus driver, a 28-year-old male from Huntington Beach, and the Ford driver, a 61-year-old male from Newport Beach, remained at the scene and fully cooperated with officers. Impairment did not appear to be a factor for either of the drivers.

The collision investigation is ongoing and being handled by the HBPD Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT). Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or the events leading up to it is encouraged to contact HBPD Traffic Investigator V. Rattanchandani at (714) 536-5231.
